Our History:
The Society of Neurosciences and Rehabilitation (S.N.R.) was founded in 2009 under the name International Society of Neurobiology and Psychopharmacology (ISNP), with the aim of contributing to continuing education and the promotion of mental health. In 2021, the organization was renamed Society of Neurosciences and Rehabilitation (S.N.R.) and is registered in the Special Registry of Non-Profit Organizations of the Ministry of the Interior. S.N.R. was founded by Professor of Psychiatry at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Konstantinos Fountoulakis, and is chaired by Aikaterini Despou, Attorney-at-Law and member of the Thessaloniki Bar Association.
Over more than fifteen years of activity, S.N.R. has developed a strong presence in the field of mental health, marked by significant scientific, educational, and social contributions. From its early academic initiatives to the establishment and operation of Mental Health Units, its work has been guided by the advancement of scientific knowledge and the provision of public benefit services.

Establishment of the Organization as the International Society of Neurobiology and Psychopharmacology (ISNP)

Biennial organization of the International Congress on Neurobiology and Psychopharmacology, with broad participation from Greece and abroad, in collaboration with the World Psychiatric Association.

Awarding of the Aristotle Gold Medal for Distinguished Contribution to Mental Health to internationally recognized figures, including two Nobel Prize laureates and the WHO Regional Director for Europe.

2023 - TODAY
Assignment by the Ministry of Health for the establishment and operation of Mental Health Units, including: a Mobile Mental Health Unit in Imathia (Veria), a Day Mental Health Center for Art Therapy, a Day Mental Health Center for Children and Adolescents in Thessaloniki and five Residential Care Homes (A3, A4, A6, A7, A8) for individuals with severe mental disorders, autism spectrum disorders, dementia, and organic psychosyndromes.
Our Vision
The vision of S.N.R. is to support individuals with mental illnesses, organic psychosyndromes, neurodegenerative and developmental disorders, as well as their families, through the development and operation of Mental Health Units. Through community awareness and educational initiatives, S.N.R. also aims to promote mental health literacy and foster understanding within society.
Our Purpose
• To develop and operate Mental Health Units in accordance with current legislation.
• To provide free-of-charge services for prevention, promotion, treatment, and psychosocial rehabilitation to children, adolescents, adults, and older adults through Mental Health and Psychosocial Rehabilitation Facilities (Mobile Units, Day Centers, and Residential Care Homes).
• To raise public awareness on mental health and contribute to stigma reduction through conferences, public-benefit initiatives, and community-oriented activities.
• To support psychiatric education, research, and clinical practice.
• To collaborate with national and international public and private organizations, as well as to participate in federations and confederations. Such collaboration may include financial support in the form of donations, sponsorships, educational or research programs, or other funding schemes, as well as the undertaking and implementation by S.N.R. of corresponding programs and initiatives.
